On the occasion of the most significant in terms of positive actions towards environmental protection \u2013 5th June, RIEW in Veliko Tarnovo hosts a work meeting with representatives of the fourteen municipalities on the territory of Veliko Tarnovo and Gabrovo district during which it will outline and highlight the major points from the international information campaign. Attention will be drawn to the duties and responsibilites of municipalities in their role of local authorities in applying the environmental laws on both regional and local level.<\/span><\/p>\n

The meeting will take place on 5th June 2014 (Thursday) at 10.30 h in the Information Centre of RIEW in Veliko Tarnovo.<\/span><\/p>\n

A news conference will follow the event at 12.30 h where will be presented the goals and objectives of the International campaign as well as the results from the inspection activity carried out by RIEW Veliko Tarnovo in 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n

The participants in both events will obtain information and promotion materials in the framework of a topical information day part of the implementation of Strategic project \u201eJoint Risk Monitoring during Emergencies in the Danube Area Border\u201c, MIS ETC Code 166 in which RIEW Veliko Tarnovo is a partner from Bulgaria.<\/span><\/p>\n

World Environment Day is celebrated every year under the auspices of the United Nations Environment Programme. The celebration of this day is related to the encouragement of the individual awareness as well as determinate actions for environmental protection on global scale. <\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The motto of the <\/strong>World Environment Day in 2014 is \u201eRaise your voice, not the sea level\u201c.<\/strong> The appeal this year is to acknowledge the fact that all of us face the same challenges and we are united by one common goal for sustainable life and well-being on our planet. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The year 2014 has been announced by the United Nations as The International Year of Small Island Developing States. <\/strong>\u00a0The commemoration of this year calls for people to raise their voices as a sign of solidarity with the citizens of the small island developing states since in result of the climate change impact and the rising ocean level they become vulnerable and forced to confront a large number of risks.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
